The lyrics in country songs tend to have a deep, personal meaning behind them, as they are typically written by the artist themselves, about a significant life event. The lyrics will also have a storyline running through them, which would also correspond to the music video which accompanies the song.
The music videos
Country music videos are often used to enhance the lyrical content of the song, and therefore relates to the narrative storyline of them. Country music videos would typically reinforce the narrative in the lyrics. The artist is expected to feature in the music video, and is commonly cast as the main character, this is to promote the artist, allowing the audience to connect with, not only the artist, but also with the lyrics, as they would be personal to the artist.
The artist influence
In country music videos, the artist features widely, therefore the audience can connect emotionally with the lyrics and the artist, giving them a more personal experience with the music. It is also necessary to feature the artist in their music videos, as their lyrics are usually based around a life experience they have had.
The features
Audiences expect certain things to be shown to them in country music videos, these conventions would need to be present in the music videos to able to convey the genre of music, and coincide with the lyrical content of the song. Many artists aim to have their music shown in such a way that the audience can relate, and they would not be able to do so if the music video strayed away from conventions.
