Music videos I admire
I admire the music video for Flo Rida's song 'whip it' as although it lacks any specifically technical, or challenging shots to film, it does have a certain sense of undestated elegance, which, accompanied by the occasional cartoonized lyrics appearing on screen, creates an overall fun, lively, and upbeat music video, which coincides with the pace and nature of the music itself. I feel the number of people in the video is similar to the number I aim to use in mine, and the decision to exclude a character to play Flo Rida himself was a decision I would too aim to make in the creation of my video.
The atmosphere created in the music video to Macklemore's song 'Downtown' is somewhat intriguing, and develops with the movement of the narrative in the video. The upbeat nature of th music video is almost infectious, and introduces more and more people into it as it continues, showing happy people throughout the town, dancing and lip singing in the eventual parade which takes place. I will therefore consider having different people lip singing, and possibly feature a dance number.
the music video for Travie McCoy's 'Golden' is somewhat cyclical, and features Travie himself, as he gets caught in a traffic jam, and sees what other driver's are doing along the way. The music video is initially confusing, but highly commendable with the almost seemless editing techniques used. This is the type of editting style I aim to use in my music video; I would want to show editing skills where necessary, however not make them too obvious and stagger the video in doing so.
