Birthday: 2nd February (Aged 22)

When she was 14, Melanie tought herself to play the guitar, and also wrote songs about love as she wanted people to hear what she wanted to say. The first song Melanie wrote was 'One Day' (video seen below).

Melanie fell in love with writing songs and playing the guitar, and soon started a YouTube channel (melanieungar).The music  Melanie song's have a country/pop feel to it.

Taking a year off from university, Melanie has recently thrown herself into her music career, producing 3 original songs, and 22 covers which can be seen on her Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/melanieungar

Melanie enjoys performing and hopes to perform on a large stage infront of thousands of fans, however, she equally enjoys smaller venues, (such as her local Starbucks) where she often does spontaneous performances for the other customers. The video from one of her performances can be seen below.

She likes to tell stories in her songs, and gives them meaning, Melanie often writes about her own experiences in life, and gives her lyrics a country/pop feel. Her inspirations include Carrie UnderwoodTaylor Swift and Ed Sheeran therefore, she tends to produce covers for their songs: below are a few examples. Melanie has also been known to take inspiration from atists such as Shania Twain and Colbie Caillat, whom also tend to be more drawn towards country-style music.

Similarly to Ed Sheeran, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, Melanie writes her own songs as they have a deep personal meaning to her life, and the experiences she has. Her lyrics to 'What is love' reference how she had fallen out of love, and following this has failed to form another romantic connection with someone else; the chorus suggests that her previous partner had made promises to her that weren't fulfilled, this is why the relationship ended. The chorus is as follows:


"This isn't how I thought it would be,
This isn't the fairytale you promised me

What is love 'cause I'm really not sure anymore
Butterflies in my stomach, good night kisses no more
Where are the passion, the romance, and those flowers at my door?
Where is love, because I surely don't know?
I don't know"

 

By using her own experiences to write songs, Melanie has been able to delve into her personal feelings towards the relationship, and is therefore able to communicate more profound and meaningful lyrics to her fans. Listen to 'What is love' is as below:
